Dear Friends & Family,

In today’s fast-paced world, there’s no denying how deeply nourishing slowing down and creating with our hands can be. I might even call it *magic* what happens when you experience the gentle rhythm of knitting needles or witness the calming yet vibrant hues of natural dyes. I’ve created Maypop with the belief that handwork and other crafts have the power to nourish the soul and connect us to our natural world – healing what’s been lost in the hurry of our times.

I have the opportunity of my lifetime to make Maypop an impactful place in our community as a brick and mortar studio. (Right around the corner from my home!) In this sweet little space, it’s my intention to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive gathering space where everyone can explore the mindful practice of handcrafts.

Below, I detail the vision for Maypop, how you can show your support and the gifts of appreciation you’ll receive in return. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings this studio one step closer to being a beautiful, nourishing space for anyone interested in connecting with their self and their community through fiber arts. Thank you for believing in Maypop and the power of handcrafts. Let’s make some magic.

With love and care,

Lauren

shared vision

The Maypop studio is more than just a space to learn crafts; it’s a sanctuary for creativity. Through classes and workshops, I aim to empower individuals of all ages to explore their creativity, embrace handmade imperfection, and find joy in the process of making art. It’s important to me that I create a space that is inspiring, beautiful, functional and comfortable to folks of all ages, genders, ethnicities and identities.

I know I’m not alone in this vision. I’ve listened and heard there are many who seek a nourishing space where creativity and community thrive. As I embark on this exciting journey to expand our offerings, I invite you to join us in bringing this shared vision to life. Together, we can create a space that benefits all who walk through the studio door, fostering a sense of belonging and creative fulfillment.

how you can help

As I embark on this journey, I need your support to bring the vision to life. By supporting Maypop, you’ll not only be helping to cover essential startup costs but also joining a community committed to fostering creativity and connection.

The funds gifted to the Maypop studio will be used to purchase sturdy, well-designed wood furniture including tables, stools, chairs and shelving. I’m committed to shopping secondhand and small – it’s my greatest intention to support local craftspeople and shops in creating and acquiring these pieces and would love any recommendations you’re willing to share!

I will also invest in quality tools and materials big and small – from weaving looms and drying racks to thread snips and needles. Any funds raised beyond the goal will support additional dreams such as a Little Free Fiber Libary outside the studio, a retail concept to share high-quality fiber art supplies, and a scholarship fund.

giving rewards

As a token of my gratitude, I’ve curated a selection of gifts to give you in return. These include handcrafted items, natural dye kits, private individual and group workshops and long-term memberships. And Maypop dad caps, of course! These are more than heartfelt gifts; they’re symbols of our shared vision.

By supporting this campaign, you become an integral part of our story, helping to shape the future of Maypop and ensuring that there is space for those who wish to reconnect with themselves and others through the beauty of fiber arts.
