Join us at our studio in Kansas City, Missouri, offers two ways to join:

  • three-part series – a guided journey where you’ll even craft your own set of wooden knitting needles on the first day. the curriculum is as follows:

    • Class 1: Make your knitting needles + learn to cast on

    • Class 2: Practice cast on + knit stitch + reading a simple pattern

    • Class 3: Knit stitch review + casting off (optional: purl stitch introduction)

  • drop-in sessions – flexible lessons that meet you exactly where you are. If you drop in, we’ll focus on whatever skill is right for you that day. Not sure? Our instructors will guide you toward the next step.

You can take this class as many times as you’d like—everyone learns at their own pace. Some students move on after 2–3 classes, while others return for more practice and inspiration.

  • instructor: Lauren Vossen

  • projects: scarf, pouch, hand warmers, toy ball, or stuffed animal (cat)

  • skill level: beginners—absolute and returning [link to skill levels]

  • required experience: none! just a willingness to learn.

  • ages: 9+ (for youth classes, click [here])

  • required supplies:

    • yarn – Worsted or bulky weight is best for beginners. Learning with wool is ideal—for its simplicity, sustainability, and feel—but organic cotton is a good plant-based choice. We do not recommend acrylic yarns.

    • needles – US 8 (5mm) is a great starter size. For bulky yarn, try US 10.5 (6.5mm). Wooden needles are gentler in hand and less slippery than metal.

Please arrive 15–20 minutes early for your first class to choose materials or bring your own from the list above.
